Perla Pendant
LINLEY commissions decorative light feature for luxury London hotel.
The Brief

The Thames Penthouse at Four Seasons Hotel is a prestigious apartment-style event space that needed a decorative lighting piece to complement the interior palette and offset the sleek architectural lines of LINLEY’S interior design scheme.

We were commissioned by LINLEY to design and manufacture a custom-made Perla pendant that would flow across the ceiling of the entertaining space to create a timeless focal point.

The Design

The elegant luminaire consists of 22 olive and amber glass shades, handcrafted in the UK using a specialist hand-blown technique. The design process involved extensive exploration of various gradients of frit and opacities of colour, to fully understand how the different combinations would react to light. The final tones were chosen for the way the white frit delicately blends with the earthy olive and amber hues, to produce a light feature rich in warmth and intricacy.

Each glass shade features a central oval-shaped, pearl-like LED light source that emits a soft gentle glow and subtly picks out the beauty of the glass work.

The decorative light feature comprises two individual polished brass frameworks, designed to blend seamlessly together to form one sculptural piece across the moderately sloped ceiling. To navigate this architectural feature and achieve a flawless finish, each ceiling rose of the bespoke luminaire had to be slightly slanted to ensure the angle of the brass structure sits parallel to the finished ceiling.
